Letter to Editor: Shame on you Boris. I’m bloody steaming. It’s an insult to the dead.

Dear Editor,

I have just seen the press conference by the prime minister, Boris Johnson and I can tell you, the MP for Harlow, Robert Halfon and all the people of Harlow, that this is so so wrong.

My dad’s funeral took place recently. That is William John Hopkins: Born-June 1931 to March 2020. He was much loved, much respected and a much missed dad..

In normal times, there would have been over fifty people there, paying their respects at Parndon Cemetery. But we complied with all the rules, regulations, guidance, regarding coronavirus.

There was four of us there and I had to take the role as the celebrant and the person who was scheduled had to isolate.

But with all that has been reported on this Dominic Cummings, then it really really feels like one rule for us plebs and one rule for the elite.

How do you expect people to follow the rules if your advisors don’t?

This isn’t about politics, this is about what is morally right.

This government has now lost its moral authority to manage this crisis. This is about protecting your mates. Mark my words, more details will come out and Boris will have to apologise.

Shame on you Boris. You have misjudged the mood of the nation. I’m bloody steaming. It’s an insult to the dead.

Regards

Leon Beesley.

Powerful and honest comment. Just hope others bother to read and accept. Not political but common sense. COVID is still killing our friends and family. Let’s all stay safe and sensible.

Not many people seem to be asking questions about the Kinnock family !

I am not making any political point here but appealing to everybody to keep sticking to the rules not like the elite of all sides who seem to think it doesn’t apply to them. I am aware in my neighbourhood of people outside a resident household entering houses and staying there for several hours. Don’t do it. Why should the sacrifice of millions of people and hundreds of thousands of front line workers over the last two months be put wasted by your selfish behaviour. Just think before you act. I am sure a few more weeks of sacrifice will see us out of this crisis so be patient and stick to the rules.
