THE FUNERAL is set to be held today (Friday) for a much-loved health care assistant at Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) who died after a five month long battle with Covid-19.

Saima Toqir Bilgrami fell ill back in April. Saima, aged 37, was initially a patient in PAH but was transferred to Addenbrooke’s and then to Papworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire where she passed away after 146 days.

Since then, many have followed her struggle through updates given by her close friend Hanya on the PAH Covid-19 Facebook page.

In many ways her struggle unified a lot of people and highlighted the goodness in people’s hearts as thousands of comments, blessing and prayers were made every day for the 146 days of Saima’s struggle.

Details of Saima’s funeral are on the poster.

Our condolences to her husband Naveed, her family, friends and the whole healthcare community.
