Mindless vandals set fire to bench dedicated to woman who loved the Harlow town park

MINDLESS vandals have set fire to a bench dedicated to a lady who loved her walks in the town park.
The bench is dedicated to Sheila Hadley, who passed away last year.
YH understands that Sheila loved using Harlow Town Park as she lived nearby.
The bench is close to the old pitch and putt course and anyone sitting there has a lovely view looking out to the rolling countryside.
On a Saturday morning, hundreds of park runners pass by the bench three times. On the third occasion, they know they are just a few hundred yards from the finish.
We are sure that Harlow parkrun will be only too happy to help with any future fundraising to repair and/or replace the bench.

What a terrble and stupid thing to do it makes you despair
Absolutely disgusting. If somebody starts a just givimg page I would be happy to contribute to the reapir.
My brothers memorial bench by the river was stolen early last year. The brackets holding it in place are still there, so I assume someone actually cut through the timber to remove it. Unbelievable
They live among us like a cancer.
Mindless feral idiots. Who have no respect for anyone or anything. What is this world coming too !
Mindless feral idiots. Who have no respect for anyone or anything. What is this world coming too ! They need to be taught a lesson and that actions have consequences!
These vandals need to be punished , and not just a slap on the hand. But I must say there is nor much for kids to do. When I was young you could go to play schemes in the summer, also had the Galaxy club(square one) , Netteswell youth club , The Grove , The swimming pool. The sports centre including the ski slope. 11 Sunday morning football leagues, and obviously some I have forgotten . Find them things that interest them.
Just remembered Tiffany's. I remember when it was Stone Cross Hall , and the the birdcage. Saturday morning pictures. Etc
Plus spurriers and The Embers at the Stow for roller skating. Sorry I am getting forgetful , getting old.
Our beautiful town park, and a bench in memory of someone special.. desecrated. Shame on them. unfortunately there will be no consequences, they do it and scarper..😡
An absolute disgrace,i hate this town nowadays. Harlow is a hellhole, with far to many people living here now and no one seems to have any respect for the town. Whoever set fire to this bench would have know it was in memory of Sheila Hadley as it says so clearly on the bench. This would be heartbreaking for her family to see.Harlow has gone way to far in the wrong direction for it ever to be put back to the lovely town that it once was.so very sad.
I agree with Cheryl wholeheartedly.
what lovely individuals they must be.
