A MAN has been sentenced to almost four years in jail after CAIT detectives were able to link him to the sexual assault of a young girl in Harlow.
Officers were alerted to an incident on Wednesday 15 June 2022 at Oakwood Pond off Fourth Avenue.
During the incident, a teenage girl was approached by a man shortly before 4.20pm and sexually assaulted her.

Thankfully, she was able to get away and seek help.
A police spokesperson said: “We then launched an investigation into the incident and used the description given to us by the victim in order to locate Luis Palma.

His distinctive clothing, a blue t-shirt, blue denim shorts and Vans-style trainers, allowed us to identify him using CCTV. His description and images of him were then circulated amongst officers who were patrolling across Harlow.
On Friday 17 June, officers passed a man who was holding a Nike bag which appeared to be similar to one being carried by the man in the CCTV footage. He was then followed and paused to look back at officers before walking into two waiting officers ahead of him.
“He was then arrested and during a search of his home, each of the distinctive items of clothing were all found.
As the investigation progressed, officers also uncovered sexually explicit messages on Instagram between Palma and a 14-year-old girl. Throughout the messages, the girl had made it clear that she was aged 14 but Palma pursued the conversation.
Palma, 31, of Fold Croft, Harlow, was subsequently charged with sexual assault and sexually communicating with a 14-year-old girl between April 2022 and June 2022.
Palma appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court in February and admitted both charges.
He was sentenced at the same court on Wednesday 10 April to 44 months in jail. He will remain on the sex offender’s register for life and will be deported at the end of his sentence.
“Officers were also successful in applying for a sexual harm prevention order and he has been banned from entering Harlow indefinitely”.
Detective Sergeant Daniela Hogan, of the West Public Protection Hub, added: “Palma is a dangerous man. He caused incredible fear to the young victim, whose family still feel the impact of the incident today.
“I must pay tribute to her; it was as a direct result of her description of her attacker that we were able to identify Palma on CCTV and ultimately make that image available to all officers in the area on patrol.”
DS Hogan added: “This was a long and complex investigation carried out by a specialist team in Harlow which ultimately meant that the evidence against Palma left him with very little choice but to admit his guilt and accept his sentence, which means he will not step foot in Harlow again.
“I have absolutely no doubt that the town is safer place for that.”
Not long enough. In 3/4 years he will do the same thing
I have obviously misread something here, 30 years is more appropriate.
Almost 4 years? Castrate him and put a tattoo on his forehead so all know what he's done.
Almost 4 years for that!! What punishment is that for the ordeal that the young lady went through, and also her family, sentence is a complete joke, Mason I completely agree with you
We let these nonces in daily. It shouldn’t be allowed.
Great work by the Police! Well done and thanks guys
Pathetic sentence.
Excellent work Essex Police!
Social media is the major problem that leads to these awful incidents. People are being mind controlled, to get what you want you have to look a certain way. Muscle, tatoos, money. When this fails these people feel rejected and take out their frustration on vulnerable innocent people. Boycott social media and stop this nonsense once and for all.
GTgopher. You have your post slightly wrong . It should read Antisocial Media
Eddie, you are right. But unfortunately the fact is that a few get hurt by the many. Is giving up social media to save a life so hard to do? We didn't need it before and we don't need it now.yes that's only my opinion. I just want to try to make the world a better place, we don't need it,
Yes 44 months is not long enough. But a very important part of his sentence is that he will be deported when he is released. This should happen to all immigrants who commit such crimes to protect Women and Girls in our country from predators like him
Gtgopher - unfortunately this was going on long before social media. People who commit these sort of offences often start at the lower end of the scale by flashing etc. The next step is what this person has done in physically sexually assaulting another person - in this case a school girl. There's little doubt that he'll continue to increase the seriousness of his offending behaviour, and at some point commit a rape.
4 years? So he can reoffend in the future? Did the pathetic judge not think of that poor victim?
He will be deported as long as the looney lefties don't kick up about his Human Rights.
Finally a Judge with a backbone and common sense. Although the sentence should have been longer in my opinion, he is then going to be deported once he's released from prison. Let's just hope they take him from prison straight to the plane!
Deported seeing is believing I'm afraid.
Happy to see he is going to be deported when he has completed his sentence, let's hope Labour and it's left wing lawyers don't stop the deportation flights this time!
The British justice system is a big joke. He would have got longer for robbing a bank!!!
Un fried chicken believable! The worst thing is the authorities do not even see the problem here.
Guy - they do see the problem. They just don't care.
Throw away the key.
