Princess Alexandra Hospital bosses issue response following government decision to review plans for new hospital

WITH the chancellor of the exchequer announcing that the plan to build 40 new hospitals including one for Harlow, was under review, we asked the bosses at Princess Alexandra Hospital for their response.
We asked them: What is your message to Harlow residents who once again, have seen plans for a new hospital being delayed?
Could you outline ( in general terms) what your other options are?
Michael Meredith, director of strategy and estates, The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, said: “The spending review announcement by the Chancellor yesterday (29 July) covered a number of points including the New Hospital Programme.
“Further details are not available and we will continue to work in partnership with the national New Hospital Programme team whilst the review is completed.”
Boris Johnson's forty fantasy hospitals never had any grounding in financial reality. It was just another of his many lies, perpetuated by the previous government, to try to stay in power.
"Man who led delayed bid for UK Health Security Agency to move to Harlow jumps ship to lead delayed bid for new hospital". (YH last month). This guy seems something of a jinx, will he now be made redundant from his new £110k pa job at PAH
"New Hospital Programme team" I wonder how much that team is costing where it hasn't delivered anything yet... Much like hggt and all it's awards it's won without even laying a brick but dishing out glossy pictures and piped dreams.
It's worth remembering what the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee said in November 2023: "Department of Health and Social Care told us it was satisfied that those decisions (40 new hospitals) were made on an appropriate basis, but it admitted that no documentation whatsoever existed to explain the decisions." With regards to RAAC concrete issues: "as at 17 October 2023, there were 42 hospital sites (at 39 NHS trusts) where RAAC needs to be removed. Rebuilding the seven RAAC hospitals by 2030 will be extremely challenging, yet there is a serious risk, if these projects are not accelerated and prioritised, that some hospitals may have to close before replacements are ready." More delay by Labour luvvies will not be helpful. See paragraphs 2&3 on pages 5&6 of https://committees.parliament.uk/publications/42134/documents/209464/default/
There will never be a new hospital.
Same old same old, as per usual.promise everything deliver nothing.
Boris has now been sacked from his last 5 jobs for lying. How could anyone believe the tories.bankrupt britain.
Well not going to get much more if anything out of Labour either then apart from lies. Let's face it this country's doomed with Tory's & Labour. What we need is fresh people with filters in their brains & not just greedy. Someone that can actually put the country right without punishing all of us for their very bad mistakes.
All full of bullshit
I think Robert Halfon should be quizzed about what he really knew?
Interesting land no longer available to buy anyway seems been somd anyway probably as fed up as rest of us waiting for thr mythical hospital
What has our new Labour MP said about this ?
Just up grade the hospitals not pull them down waiting time is good now why are you looking to make it worse.
Labour have just taken over from the Tory disaster, it's not fair to blame them. They are left to pick up the rubbish that the Tories have left behind.
They haven't even bought land yet ! Seems like a guessing game to keep the people of Harlow happy.
Tories have ruined this country corruption beyond belief sad
Does anyone remember the state of the country let alone Harlow Town under a Labour government ?
The least that can be done with the current site is for residents around the area to allow a multi storey car park at the current site and upgrading of the hospital. The helipad seems of little use and expansion can be done on that side. We need a bigger hospital not a smaller one as being proposed in the new plans. The new hospital will be disaster as it will not be able to cope with the increase in population in the surrounding areas of Harlow.
I notice, but I maybe wrong, Robert Haflon is saying nothing! Especially after his "look what I am doing/have done for Harlow. Does he not want his photo published anymore? PAH have amazing staff but their efforts are hampered by lack of space & a idiotic hierarchical system. To many chiefs not enough Indians springs to mind!!
Yes Emmie I remember what a Labour government did to the NHS it shortened the horrendous waiting lists that it inherited from the Tory mest they left behind. Ring any bells?
So the Conservative government put plans in place to build a new NHS hospital in Harlow, the Labour government have now shelved it because they don't want to spend the money, and some people believe it's the Torys' fault. OK
Emmies very true words it won't be long until the electoric realise their mistake thankfully we have a torie council ɓy a thread. However with a Starmer Corbyn government the worse is yet to come, already heating allowance for pensioners have gone plus our new hospital which was budgeted for and agreed gone, what else is up their sleeves?
