A TYPICAL household’s annual energy bill will rise by £149 in October under the new price cap reports the BBC.
People using an average amount of gas and electricity will pay £1,717 a year, a 10% rise compared with now.

The cap, set by the energy regulator Ofgem, affects the price paid for each unit of gas and electricity used in 27 million homes in England, Wales and Scotland.

Do people who voted for labour feel like mugs yet, 7 weeks in we have old age pensions losing their winter fuel allowance, energy bills rising despite promises otherwise. That is before we even talk about the autumn statement where it is obvious taxes are going to rise and benefits will be cut. We are about to see labour implement austerity. There is money we are just wasting it on overseas aid, net zero, and many many other things

The joys of cheap green energy! Wind and Solar tech has been around since the early 70’s, and while there have been improvements in efficiency of the technology, the reason it never took off back then is still valid today. It’s not cheap, it’s not green and you cannot recycle the tech. In the mean time our energy bills will continue to rise until someone realises that the whole issue of climate change/ energy production needs a global approach and not a local approach.
Can anyone seriously claim that this Labour government is better than the last Conservative government? The electorate were promised change but have only received the same rubbish delivered over the past 14 years. They claim there is no money to do what they set out in their election manifesto. So increase tax levels to invest and/or borrow. They can do that with a handsome majority knowing that in time that investment will give a massive return in decent public services. Attlee did so and see what his government did in just 6 years. Starmer threw away his commitment to his own membership and that will come back to hurt him soon I suspect. It vindicates my decision to vote Green in July and anyone with a spare ticket to Vancouver, please let me know.
Guy - The only game in town in nuclear, it is safe and clean. There are no such things as a low energy, advanced (rich) country it is fantasy of the lunatic green lobby. As for anyone voting for politicians I am amazed you thought it was going to be any different they do not work for the ordinary people of the country.
On the 13th of October, the Labour Party will have been in office 100 days, the budget has been scheduled for October 30th, seems to me they just want to give the unions, (their paymasters) whatever % pay rise they ask for, (no strings attached) resolve these negotiations within that 100 days, so the chancellor can see what the shortfall is regarding tax receipts, which gives them 17 days to work out how much everybody else’s tax needs to go up, don’t worry you’ve only got another 5 years of this.
