IN AUGUST we had 615,864 page views. It is our second most popular month. It is only the second time in our history, we have gone over 600,000 page views.

For the record, we had 733,408 page views in January 2021 but that was in the teeth of the Covid lockdown when we were reporting three sets of statistics each day.

We also published 365 stories. That is 2,963 for the year to date.

We did have a number of high profile stories. The gas leak on Fifth Avenue; the field fire between Newhall and Churchgate Street; a stabbing in Church Langley and the bomb squad off Southern Way.

But that is only five out of 365. The vast vast majority is the community stories that bind the town together.

In our opinion, the crime stories are the exception, the community stories are the rule. However, one crime story is one crime too many.

We have just passed 3.9 million page views for the year.

It is also the sixteenth birthday for our sister paper, YourThurrock.
