Fire Brigade training exercise to take place at Terminus House

News / Sun 15th Sep 2024 at 09:10am

RESIDENTS who live close to Terminus House, Harlow, are being asked to avoid the area from 11am on Tuesday, 17 September to allow fire crews to carry out a planned training exercise.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) will start the training exercise at Terminus House shortly after 11am. It will involve non-toxic cosmetic smoke on the 10th floor.

The purpose of the exercise is to test ECFRS’ response to emergencies and practice a full evacuation of the building. Terminus House Management, with assistance from ECFRS, will coordinate the evacuation.

During the exercise, around four fire engines are expected to be at the scene. The drill will last between one to two hours, and there may be some minor disruptions in the area, including restricted access to certain local spots.

All building occupants will have been informed about the exercise and what they need to do beforehand.

Station Manager Dean Riley at Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: “Realistic fire and rescue training exercises are crucial for making sure that we can effectively respond to emergencies. By working closely with our partners and simulating real-life scenarios, we can better understand and manage the risks we face, ensuring the safety of our community.

“There is absolutely no reason for anyone in the area to be concerned. If it directly affects you then you’ll be informed, and if you live in the local area it should cause minimal disruption if you’re able to avoid the area.”

26th April, Dan promised to start work on demolishing and redevelopment within a year. On 4th April they pledged to bring back M & S.

Why are people so dead set focused on there being another marks and sparks? A politician has no say or business in making such promises as M&S is a private business and ultimately decides where they set up shop. All of you who believed Swords have been shafted lol.

Mark H, you are incorrect. As Landlord of the Harvey Centre, the Council can offer incentives for a retailer to move into a retail space, therefore, they can influence a retailers decision whether to take their offer to a particular town. This is common practice for commercial lettings.
