Business / Fri 25th Oct 2024 at 02:12pm

TESCO has revealed plans to open a new store in Harlow. The 200-square-metre shop will be located in the Harvey Centre, taking over the former Papa’s Cappuccino location ( near Iceland) reports the Local Democracy Reporter.

Tesco has made an application to Harlow Council for permission to sell alcohol between 6am and midnight.

A Tesco Express already operates a larger premises in the Harvey Centre.

However, this will be part of a general “reconfiguration” of The Harvey Centre that is set to take place over the next two years.

YH understands that if they do relocate to a much smaller unit, there are on going talks to fill where they are.

Any representations for the application for the new Tesco store licensed must be made in writing by November 14.

The current Tesco doesn't have much choice. It'll have even less if it relocates to a smaller space.

Does this signal that the Harvey Centre is not seeing adequate footfall/ custom since the Council took over the and a wreaking ball to the rest of the town centre?
