Millions more on benefits to get £150 off energy bills

DOUBLE the number of households in Britain will get £150 off their energy bills this winter as the government changes the rules on who qualifies for the Warm Home Discount reports the BBC.
Anyone on means-tested benefits will automatically see the money knocked off their bills no matter what size of property they live in.

While debt charities and energy groups have welcomed the move, some say the scheme still leaves out some of those most at risk, including those on non-means tested benefits.

Key sentence is "some say the scheme still leaves out some of those most at risk, including those on non-means tested benefits." The Labour government understand propaganda, but not justice for the vulnerable.
Some people who don't know how to claim or that they are entitled to it at all will be missed out.
This is not new money. People who are on more than one benefit were allowed to apply for the warm home discount scheme and it's hovered between £140-£150. PiP is one of those qualifiers but it is estimated that 800,000 people on pip are about to lose the enhanced rate/completely lose it through the soon to be announced benefits review. This would mean far less would qualify, not far more.
It would be a lot easier for everybody if energy prices were not so high in the first place, instead of which you have to go round and round and up your own backside to work out what's what.
