Letter to Editor: On Harlow MP and massacres in the Gaza Strip

Your Say / Mon 23rd Jun 2025 at 07:32am

Dear Editor,

HARLOW Labour MP Chris Vince remains silent on the massacres taking place in the Gaza Strip, and now the Labour government that he supports is attempting to silence people protesting against those massacres.

It has been announced that the government will proscribe Palestine Action, a direct action group that sprayed red paint on two Royal Air Force aircraft in protest at British military assistance to the Israel Defence Forces.

Hungry people are being killed while queueing for food in the Gaza Strip, as the RAF conducts reconnaissance flights on behalf of the Israel Defence Forces and Israeli troops are being trained by the UK on British soil.

International experts on genocide – including two Israeli scholars, Shmuel Lederman and Raz Segal – are agreed that the State of Israel is committing genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The proposed ban on Palestine Action would mean that people could be imprisoned simply for expressing approval of an organisation that protests against genocide, while Raytheon UK (based in Harlow) and other British companies profit from supplying the State of Israel with the means to commit genocide.

Perhaps some people would not feel the need to spray paint on warplanes if MPs such as Chris Vince did not refuse to answer letters from their constituents about the horrors taking place in the Gaza Strip.

Any Labour MP or Labour Councillor who does not publicly condemn the crimes taking place in the Gaza Strip and try to do something to stop them would be a stinking hypocrite were they to laud the bravery of people such as Nelson Mandela or attend commemorations of the genocides of years gone by.

When dwelling on the great injustices of the past some of us ponder the question “what would I have done?” Look in the mirror and ask yourself “what am I doing today to try to stop the genocide taking place in the Gaza Strip?”

Yours sincerely

John Wake

This is hilarious.. we can not stop until Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran are completely eradicated or surrendered. I pray for all the civilians hurt or killed, Jewish or Muslim but unfortunately War is a horrific thing! These Pro-Palestinian people really need to do some research because it’s actually a genocide against the very small population of the Jews.

John, why do you never worry about the hostages Hamas took. If they never took them and hadn't done the October 7 massacre, this would not be happening.

There was a ceasefire on the 6th of October! 1.7 billion Muslims on earth and only 15 million Jews but for some reason people think the genocide is against the Gazans. Isreal supplies water and electric to Gaza and Palestine if Isreal wanted a genocide they could have done it over night with their airforce. Jewish lives matter God bless all and I pray for peace

Critics of Israel always seem to conveniently forget that the killing would stop if Hamas just surrendered.

Had the Terrorist organisation Hamas not invaded a pop concert and raped murdered and kidnapped innocent Israeli citizens we wouldn't be where we are now, Should the same happen to UK citizens I would expect the government to unleash all hell to punish those responsible The government is right to proscribed those that cause har to our military as terrorists and deal with the accordingly

It's not too difficult to see why it's still going on. The Hamas attack was the same as 9/11 in that it was the worst attack on a nation's psyche. Despite 20 odd months, Hamas would still rather see the Palestinian people suffer than return the Israeli hostages. That maybe uncomfortable for some but that is the truth. For the Israeli point of view, they see pushing Palestinian's out of the West Bank and Gaza as the only way to stop such an attack on the people of Israel again. Hamas is the key to stopping this war and no one else. What did suprise me is just how many surrounding Arab countries do not want to take in any Palestinian's? As to Palestinian Action being designated as a terror group, I agree. You do not break into one of the largest operational military bases in the U.K. with all kinds of weaponry and then sabotage said weaponry. They were very lucky they were not shot given the current heightened security status. If you are going to make adult choices then be prepared for adult consequences and mummy and daddy won't be around forever to keep bailing you out. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes..

Well said John Wake. Zionism and American imperialism is attempting to wipe out Palestine and its people. We are moving dangerously close to the Middle East being drawn into a fractious and divided war zone. The more this continues the more lives will be lost on all sides. As always the civilians pay the highest cost, criminalising those who seek to draw attention to this shows that this labour MP and government are not on the side of humanity.

Hamas are Terrorists, Israel have confirmed they dont care about Palestinians. IDF are Terrorists who dont care and have killed medical staff, bombed hospitals, killed journalists. When Iran bombed and Israeli hospital, Israel rightly called it a war crime - works both ways. What is clear is both sides have no concern for innocent Palestinians. And that is who we are concerned about. They are being wiped out. That's disgusting and if you think that's acceptable then you would be welcome in 1930s Germany. The parallels are clear to those without bias.

Jim, then punish Hamas, not the children of Palestine

The war that threatens Europe is in Ukraine. Israel is the only democratic state in the Middle East and has been under constant threat since its inception. Fortunately, more moderate Arab states are moving away from extremism and terrorism and Israel now has full diplomatic relations with Egypt, UAE and Jordan. Palestine is a side show compared to the Russian threat to Europe. Now Iran has been brought to the table, the days of Hamas and Hezbollah terrorism are numbered.

John Wake, attacking against our esteemed Armed Forces and its bases is an act tantamount to treason. The perpetrators are lucky they were not shot by the RAF Regiment. This type of action cannot be justified. The Group responsible for this criminal vandalism and trespass is a terrorist organisation that constitutes a threat to our national security and must face the consequences as must any supporting them. They are a disgrace to our country. Do you have no dignity?

Jim and Jamie do you actually have a television in your house, do you see the news at night, every night.its horrendous to watch this absolute genocide play out in real life in our living rooms. The Israeli pilots Dropping 3000lb bombs in neighbourhoods killing thousands of inocent people.mostly small children..gaza has the highest population of children with legs and arms missing anywhere ever in the history of the world. Oct the 7th was an evil vile attack, without a doubt , but collective punishment is a war crime.using starvation as a tool to kill people is also a war crime. Regarding the hostages which again is crimevagainst humanity, you have to remember Israel have 12000 Palestinians prisoners who are hostages too.so many Jewish people around the world ,,, most actually are not represented by the Israelis they don't agree with them at all.

What Israel is doing in Gaza goes way beyond a need for self defence. Those commenting on here regarding hostages clearly haven't taken account of the families of the hostages being highly critical of the Israeli government bombing Gaza to rubble and killing hostages in the process. Nor have they understood the disgusting longstanding Israeli practice of Administrative Detention, which is just a fancy name for detaining Palestinians without charge or trial for years, including children. If you have any real concern for the hostages perhaps take note of a father's plea to the Israeli government in an Israeli newspaper: "Only Diplomacy and a Hostage Deal Can Save My Son's Life'" https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2025-06-25/ty-article/.premium/my-sons-life-can-be-saved-only-through-diplomacy-and-a-hostage-deal/00000197-a76c-d6b3-abf7-efff93180000

David Foreman have anybody been watching the behaviour of this Government. Even the Israeli Jews don't agree with their governments constant dedication of the Palestine over half a century.Wjy are we not sanctioning Israel. It must mean that the government needs them to do their dirty work for them. Now can we get back to remembering the smokescreen that has so efficiently been put up.And start sorting out the God awful situation in the war of resources.lol

It is a well known fact surinder. That the constant murdering of Palestinians since the end of world war 2 has now caused an interesting story. The Past British government wet responsible for for agreeing to Allow Palestinian people to have the state in an agreement with them. They agreed to help the British government. After their greatly needed help . Instead of keeping their promises. The British government never kept their word. Mainly because the very few Zionists kicked up a fuss. That was the beginning of the worst mistake in world history. It seems odd that the Israeli government keeps getting leniency. And correct me if I am wrong David Foreman. Since that agreement above. We have constantly turned a blind eye and until recently when we have Started at last to give aid to the starving, broken Palestines, which at last a step forward. And I respect the decision to be honest enough to finally.Help these helpless individuals.Welldone! The way to solve this problem is with neverending kindness.Allowing the Palestine people to live like human beings, helping them to rebuild and allowing them to rebuild their own lives with dignity. I am afraid that the Palestines have every right to never forget what has happened to their own peoples. They have been constantly crucified. But with a constant monitoring and help from us we may well have some sort of forgiveness. What the critics of this situation are seeing now is a very desperate, and distraught countryless people. Homeless, starving, distraught and alone. What a very brave people they are. Let them grow some food, perhaps a little olive grove per family and recover a little. Start to treat properly these people that have incurred such oppression, then give them the chance to live again. I predict it may take many years and a good few tantrums. You would behave exactly the same if this crime has happened to you. My words of wisdom are make peace not war with these people.hugs.Thats for you David Foreman. Sensitivity, unconditional, support and you are capable of understanding and UNITE these people. Now you can do a hatchet job on me ,but that will not change my mindset.💯

What they need is a peaceful resolution. To calm the waters.Until that is achieved no one 🕐 will be able to function. I can see food is a good start. But then political peace will have to be achieved and that's why it is so hard. With the highest regard for a settlement enabled

New post 28th of July 2025. At last we are seeing a breakthrough. With food finally entering Gaza. As a result of course of constant Pressure.I do hope as a result of these actions. We will see some progress and a foothold to peace in this area. With President Macron acknowledging that he accepts at last that Palestine should be a sovereign state. We have a small step in the right direction at last for the people of Palestine. Although, they may never forget what has been inflicted on them. They should accept the inroads to peace. It is of course in their best interests. So hopefully they may be open to the idea. This maybe one of the most iconic moments that this world has seen in a very long time. And I hope it is a small step in the direction for peace for these people. Well done to all the MPs for their good natures and robust approach. And well done at last to Donald Trump and Sir Kier Starmer for becoming the backbone for this long awaited movement. I just hope I am not too premature with congratulations. It is a small victory for the Palestinian People. And well done to Amnesty and the people that support them, for their bravery and consistent highlighting of the situation. It is very Human of you.Keep up the good work you deserve a big bar of chocolate 🍫.Hugs.xxxxx
