STANSTED Airport staff swapped high-vis for cricket whites in a friendly match against Stansted Cricket Club last week (June 25) , celebrating a £5,000 donation from the airport’s Community Fund (SACF) towards new training nets.

The match, held at the club’s village ground, brought together colleagues from across MAG Stansted, including security, airfield operations, engineering, and customer service, for a fun and relaxed game of cricket.

On a perfect summer evening and in front of a great crowd, Stansted CC posted an impressive 195 runs in the 20-over match. The airport team took a more laid-back approach in reply, finishing on 103 while making sure everyone got a chance to bat and enjoy the occasion.

The SACF donation will help the club purchase and install much needed new nets to support training for both adult and junior players.

Daniel Turpin, Community Manager at the airport, said:
“The cricket club is a big part of the community, and we’re delighted the SACF could help improve facilities that benefit players of all ages. It was fantastic to see airport colleagues get involved, and despite a few dropped catches, it was great fun! Huge thanks to Stansted CC for the warm welcome, brilliant turnout, and fantastic hospitality, they really made it an evening to remember.”

“We’re incredibly grateful for the Community Fund’s support. The donation will make a huge difference to our training facilities. The match was great fun, and it was brilliant to welcome the airport team to the club.”
