A HARLOW man, Ross Ellis, who was arrested while driving a car during a protest at The Bell Hotel Epping has admitted an offence in court and been sentenced.

He was arrested while at the wheel of a white car which was being driven on the wrong side of the road, towards a police cordon in High Road shortly after 9.30pm.

A child was also in the car at the time.

Ellis, 49, of Orchard Croft, Harlow, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and was later charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

He admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 30 August, and was disqualified from driving for 48 months and fined £200 in place of a community order as Ellis cannot undertake unpaid work.

Ellis was also ordered to pay £85 in court costs and pay an £80 court charge.

The court made a collection order so all fees will be deducted from benefits.
