Former Bush Fair playscheme set to be demolished

A FORMER playscheme that has lain derelict for many years is set to be demolished.
The building sits between the bowls club in Bush Fair and the back of the Tye Green Library.
Many will have fond memories of it being used as a community hub until the large “play barn” replaced it in the late seventies.
Now it is totally derelict and has been a hub for anti-social behaviour.
Demolition work is scheduled to begin on October 15th.

Such a shame. It could have been renovated and used by charities or community groups, but successive councils allowed it to fall into disrepair and decay.
One fewer part of the town for someone to torch. Have to say, this town must have been amazing with so many community facilities, the vast majority of them now either derelict or demolished - relics of what this place used to be like. Very sad.
I recall that it used to have a first flooor deck that I see is no longer there. It will be interesting to see if any opportunistiv developers try and grab the land.
Bush Fair playscheme and playing fields used to host the town wide finals day for all the children involved in all the playschemes from all of the town. Five-a-side footie, netball, shinty, cricket, tennis, rounders, snooker, table tennis etc., medals were awarded. Fold Croft had a huge, self-built wooden adventure structure reaching up several levels.
