Essex Police lends advice and support to asylum seekers and refugees in Harlow

Communities / Wed 1st Oct 2025 at 02:37pm

ESSEX Police visited a much-respected Harlow-based organisation that represents refugees and asylum seekers.

A spokesperson for Integration Support said:

“A huge thank you to Essex Police in Harlow for joining us to talk about Hate Crime.

“It was a valuable discussion on how to recognise it and why it’s so important to speak up.

Remember, we are a registered Hate Crime Reporting Centre.

“If you or someone you know has experienced a hate crime, you can come to us. We can provide a safe space and help you understand the process and report it to the police”.

The lovely lady pictured is Emma, a community safety officer for the council. She's often seen helping the police at these events with her team. Great work!!!

This makes me mad, my son is 3rd generation Harlow and old enough to move out of our house, he needs to be able to spread his wings just like millions of other young people in our country but can't because he'd get shown the door if he asked for help. What chance have our kids got of getting a place of there own? Where are these so called refugees being housed because as far as I knew there is a housing shortage in Harlow 🙄, can't get a doctor, dentist or hospital appointment but hey just bring more in 🙄.

David, Deborah and Vanda you will find that the Cops hold regular Coffee with Cops sessions. I've attended one in McDonalds in Broadwalk. The Cops go out to schools and community groups including the Chamber of Commerce. The PFCC holds regular public meetings. I've attended at least 4 over the years. PC Emily Cross of the town centre team was nominated for an award for her work with the homeless and helping kids of all colours with her Free Cakes for Kids charity. Police officers deal with hate crime that involves the disabled, the elderly and the mentally ill as well as race related or would you rather these people be picked upon? See Emily's story at https://www.yourharlow.com/2022/04/25/harlow-community-policing-team-april-report/

Deborah, the housing shortage has far more to do with selling off council houses and not replacing them. Numerous reports have shown building a sufficient number of houses is only achieved when the government and councils build social housing, that's council housing, in large numbers in the 100,000 range. Since the late 1980s the figure has been in the thousands, on or less less than 10,000 since 2013. As the housing charity Shelter said last year: "Building more social rent homes is the only lasting solution to the housing emergency." Nigel Farage is a landlord with multiple homes worth £3m+. If you think Reform will build large numbers of council houses, think again. See Shelter report at https://england.shelter.org.uk/support_us/campaigns/social_housing/brick_by_brick_report_summary

Maybe help support them by explaining what is considered a crime in this country. What you can do and what you cant do. How to integrate into the OUR community and how to repect OUR culture.

Careful David Foreman that seems quite hateful you insinuating that I would want people picked on, I said no such thing.
