Harlow MP Chris Vince: “Housing asylum seekers in Redstone House is the wrong decision for Harlow”

Chris Vince / Mon 6th Oct 2025 at 04:09pm

CHRIS Vince, MP for Harlow, has responded to the “alleged decision” to house asylum seekers in Redstone House.

It looks like his own government have kept Mr Vince in the dark over this matter.

Chris Vince said: “This is not the right decision for Harlow.”

Chris Vince raised particular concern about the suitability of Redstone House, which was recently evacuated due to unsafe and unacceptable living conditions.

“I saw those conditions for myself when I helped residents move out. Redstone House was deemed unfit for Harlow families, and it is simply wrong to suggest it is now suitable for vulnerable asylum seekers. That is neither fair to them nor to the local community.”

He added: “I will be raising this issue directly with Ministers and requesting a meeting urgently.

“I will do everything I can to stop this from happening. I will continue to stand up for Harlow as I have done every day since being elected last year.”

This is a joke. Kick out the residents due to fire safety concerns, in reality maybe the owners knew this and let the fire brigade do the dirty work of “closing” it. All of a sudden all now OK, rents go up and a nice government contract ! This stinks and as usual I suspect is all about money !

If they are not to be housed in Harlow - Then what??? - You need to think this through or begin to sound just like Reform - Do you want them to be housed in Stortford or Liverpool? - or do you want them sent packing? - Should they be given first dibs when new homes are built? -- What do you want Chris? - Do you want then in Harlow, but just not in Redstone House? Keir isn't going to give you a steer on this one, you're on your own!

Well Chris Vince, Harlow voted for you, so grow a pair and stand up for your voters, let’s see if you really love Harlow, don’t resign and give it to another Labour MP.

Chris Vince is a sycophant, an AI Bot for Keir Starmer. He will never defend our town or our patriotic council if it threatens his career. Chris Vince supports Chris Vince!

Your party are dead and buried at the next election Chris. The question is are you going down with them or will you fight this whatever the consequences from your boss?

Meanwhile, on September 8 Tory and Reform MPs voted for House of Lords amendments that undermined Labour's efforts to improve the rights of renters. House of Lords Amendment 58 was designed to help landlords by reducing by half the time they could re-let the property at a higher rent if they had failed to sell the house following evicting tenants. In essence, helping landlords to bypass Labour's good intentions to stop no-fault evictions.

Perhaps the question that should be asked. If Harlow was a labour run council, would the government have found another conservative run town to place these asylum seekers?
