UK travellers should expect ‘four-hour queues’ as new EU border system comes into force

News / Sun 12th Oct 2025 at 08:53am

UK holidaymakers are being warned to expect four-hour queues as a new EU border system comes into force reports ITV.

The Entry Exit System (EES) begins on Sunday and involves people from third-party countries like the UK having their fingerprints registered and photograph taken before entering 29 European countries, mainly in the EU.

Experts are warning British passport holders to brace for delays as staff “familiarise themselves with the new procedures”, which will lead to longer waits at border control on arrival to countries in the Schengen area, which includes France, Spain and Germany.

Great isn’t it - Brexit Freedoms have given us…… Our fingerprints taken and held by the nations of Europe - (The Irish don’t have to because they are EU citizens) —- Our kids unable to work in Europe and we have to stand in line with the nations of the 3rd world at the border and our country flooded with delivery drivers from Asia and Africa - And fruit and veg from Europe costing more and we get in the low grade stuff - Thanks Nigel Faridge - This was your doing, as you STOOD DOWN your candidates at the previous election to let Boris Johnson into Downing Street because you liked the cut of his jib. Now you're carping from the sideline about him — You are a nasty Trumplicker.

Labour’s not getting my middle class vote in the local elections in May. I've had enough of holding my nose and voting for them and now they’ve got power they’re not interested in the views and wishes of those who have stuck by them, but rather in chasing Brexiteers and Northerners who'd have voted Labour years ago. - Well, you continue to chase their vote and I’m going to vote for any oddball on the ballot paper that offers me a repaired relationship with Europe. And if that candidate only gets 50 votes and you lose the election by 50 votes, then you can think about winning my vote back at the election after that!

Wayne, you hit the nail on the head, to think that maybe Farage might make it to number 10, scary.

In one of my trips to Europe, Sweden in fact, I identified a thief and drug dealer on a train bound from Stockholm to Berlin. Having ensured the attendance of police the crim was taken off the train. Now I get treated as the crim on entering the EU. Hence the EU gets the middle finger from me and I travel elsewhere.
