Fundraising campaign for causes close to community champion Paul Blake’s heart after Woodcroft Christmas lights cancelled due to ill health
Charity / Mon 15th Dec 2025 at 04:52pm
EVERY year, we have reported on Harlow resident Paul Blake’s Christmas lights at his home in Woodcroft.
Paul has been doing it for years and they have raised thousands of pounds for St Clare Hospice.

Sadly, Paul hasn’t been well recently, so friends and family have stepped in to the breech and started a fundraising page, with the objective of raising money for excellence causes.
Organiser Katie Sontag said: “People will notice this year Paul and Kim Blake’s famous Christmas lights are not up at Woodcroft.
Sad to say Paul is unwell in hospital. He is doing so well, being strong and slowly recovering.
“We wanted as a family to still raise money for the charities Paul supports through his Christmas light display, so he can follow the progress whilst in hospital.
Paul and Kim support ASL, Streets 2 Homes and St Clare’s Hospice throughout the whole year and the hardwork is so appreciated.
“Let’s raise some money on their behalf and we would also like to add PAH ICU who are looking after Paul and doing a wonderful job”.

Really sorry to hear that Paul is poorly, we wish him a full and speedy recovery. We have missed the lovey lights this year xx
I am truly saddened to hear that Paul is so poorly. He is an incredible man with a wicked and warped sense of humour, pretty much like myself. Over the years, we have often exchanged jokes & ridiculous comments between us via Facebook. We share a passion for photography and Paul has been kind enough to let us have some of his photos for publications. I wish Paul a speedy recovery, Facebook is been really boring without you Paul, so can you please hurry up and get better
Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery Paul.
