THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice reports the BBC.
The alert is in place from Friday between 00:00 and 12:00 GMT, and covers parts of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Essex and Northamptonshire.
An area of sleet and snow is expected to move south-east across England, lasting approximately two or three hours in any one place.

“Where snow falls, up to 2cm (0.8in) is likely for some, and perhaps as much as 5cm (2in) of snow possible in a few spots, especially higher ground of north Wales and north-west England,” the Met Office warned.
People have been warned to expect some travel disruption due to the snow and ice.
Some roads and railways could be affected, with longer journey times, and there could be icy patches on roads, pavements and cycle paths.
Temperatures on Friday are expected to only reach about 3C with lows below freezing.
I was in NJ the other week, it was -10C I woke up to 3 inches of snow, the roads were clear and drivable. No panic on the news, no yellow warnings, about a bit of winter just the state quietly doing its job and preparing. Quite nice to see, quite sad the UK does not have this capability any more
Adam, you are the first to criticize government intervention but If I understand your comment correctly you are bemoaning that the state has reduced its capacity to deal with snow. When did we last get snowfall severe enough to disrupt Harlow. You can't have it both ways.Nonetheless I wish you, and all those who comment on and read YH a Happy New Year. Life would be very boring without the variety of opinions expressed.
I agree Pete. We could gear up the same as NJ - but it would cost the country a fortune and rarely be used.
Adam. All we need to do to gear up for bad weather is to make sure our elderly neighbours are okay. And do a bit of shopping for them if they cannot get out.
The colder it is the less warm it is.
Ronald McRonald. As they say, no shit Sherlock.
Odd how things change nowadays. Back in the 70s, we had lots of snow during the winter and just got on with things regardless. I used to walk to school every day during that time (2 to 3 miles). Nowadays, it seems that the threat of a bit of snow sends the media into a panic thus passing such panic onto the public. How the heck have we as a species become so weak minded!!!
Above all everyone must remember to not eat yellow snow
Ted, thanks for the offer of shopping and help. How do I contact you to make arrangements? And does your generosity extend to the summer?
So it seems the media are at it again with this rubbish. The met office has not given a severe weather warning for Harlow. Cold yes, but no mention of snow. But according to the media we were in line for snow from midnight until noon. Just how the media get away with quoting the met office every time bad weather is around is beyond me. Media need closing down.
