LAST year, Marie Foster, Church Warden at St Stephen’s, Tye Green, founded Crafty Creations Haven with a heartfelt vision: to create a welcoming space in the community where people could come together, unwind, spark their creativity, and find a sense of peace through crafting. What began as a simple gathering quickly grew into something special, with members not only sharing projects and ideas but also enjoying shared lunches that turned sessions into warm, social occasions.

To mark the group’s first full year, the local community church hosted a joyful anniversary event that brought everyone together to celebrate this milestone. The highlight was a delicious buffet lunch featuring a variety of homemade and favourite dishes, allowing attendees to relax, chat, and enjoy each other’s company over good food.

A beautiful celebration cake took centre stage, commemorating the group’s one-year journey and Marie’s inspiring initiative. Flowers were presented to Marie and Jackie Keown, who also helps run the group. They have both worked tirelessly to build the Crafty Creations Haven over the past year.

The group were also delighted to welcome residents from Tye Green Lodge, the local care home, who joined the regular members in the festivities, along with two newcomers to the group who had heard how welcoming it was. The atmosphere of the celebration was filled with laughter, gratitude, and appreciation for how far the group has come — from a peaceful creative outlet to a true community hub.

The Crafty Creations Haven happens every Thursday between 10 and 12:30pm at St Stephen’s Church, Tawney’s Road CM18 6QR. There is a £2 entry fee – free tea and coffee is provided. New members are very welcome.
