Harlow Council leader announces new nightclub set to open in transformed Market Square

THE Leader of Harlow Council, Councillor Dan Swords, has today announced that an agreement has been reached for the former nightclub in The Rows to be refurbished and reopened, marking another major step in the regeneration of the northern end of Harlow town centre.

The venue, which was once home to well-known nightspots including Seen, Heights 2000, HighWire, Liquid and Millennium, has been closed for several years as this part of the town centre fell into decline. Now, with construction underway and regeneration gathering pace, Harlow Council has reached an agreement with a new operator to bring the building back into use.

The reopening of the nightclub represents a significant moment in efforts to restore Harlow’s evening economy and re-establish Market Square as a vibrant destination for nightlife, leisure and entertainment.
The announcement comes as construction work continues at pace across Market Square, including work to transform Market House, The Rows, Adams House and the square itself with new bars, restaurants, nightlife, high-quality office space and so much more.
Announcing the new nightclub, Councillor Dan Swords, Leader of Harlow Council, said:
“Nightlife is coming back to Harlow! For years, this part of the town centre has been left empty and derelict. The nightclub in Market Square – once at the heart of so many great nights out – has stood closed for far too long. But not anymore. I’m delighted to announce that we’ve reached an agreement with a new operator to refurbish and reopen this iconic venue as part of our wider regeneration of the northern town centre.
“We said we would rebuild the town centre. We said we would bring nightlife back. And we are delivering. And the best part? People won’t have long to wait as the new Market Square is just months away.
“We are rebuilding our town, reviving our nights out, and Building Harlow’s Future.”
I have never voted Tory in my life but for Dan Swords I will make an exception. Unlike others before him, he is making great steps to revitalise Harlow. Keep up the momentum Dan 🤓
One of Dan's plus points is that he responds to comments. I have never seen Chris Vince respond even on his facebook page. The other day I lightheartedly pointed out that 19th March is not just over 3months into 2026. I saw Dan at a business event the other week, Chris only seems to connect to schools
Great news, but we still have other issues in Harlow that are more important. I nearly got hit by a car speeding the other day on Southern Way. When will Dan admit that we have a serious issue with speeding, especially around residential housing and schools.
Darren is right and I can share his stance. I have usually voted Labour and was tempted to vote Reform, but Dan Swords and his team are smashing it. Harlow not seen anything like this ambition and drive. My vote in May is Dan's Conservatives. They are the only act in town.
This is different to any leader of the council and administration we have had before. Dan Swords has a true passion and vision for Harlow. He is focused, capable and has a strong team. Let's forget the national scene. The May elections are just about Harlow. Let's show our support by voting locally for Dan's Conservative candidates so they can finish the great job they are doing in Harlow.
Only one party to vote for in May and thats Dan and the Conservatives! The only party that actually seems to care about Harlow and are fulfilling their promises. All the other parties are not fit to run a bath around here and are a waste of a vote
I agree with Dan and Graham I have never voted Conservative but Dan is putting his money where his mouth is. He is putting his words into action each day. There seems to be something new coming out positively to improve a time that has been on decline for many years. Dan Swords Has been a great addition to Harlow putting us on the map showing pride and where he lives. In May he has my vote. Looking forward to the time show in the summer Marks & Spencer‘s coming back and also a new nightclub The town looks great with all the artwork. Please continue the great work that you’re doing, Dan
It is true, neither Labour or Reform have any credible plans, experience or track record to match Dan Swords and his team. It is not political, it is about who is doing and who can do. Dan wins hands down. He has my vote for sure.
Reform is not right wing enough in my opinion.
YES DAN,I CAN BOOGIE, BUT I NEED A CERTAIN SONG,I CAN BOOGIE, BOOGIE WOOGIE,ALL NIGHT LONG
Let's be clear, Harlow Conservatives led by Dan Swords have a clear plan, a strong budget, an highly credible team and an impressive track record. What are Harlow Labour and Harlow Reform offering as viable alternative for Harlow? In reality, nothing. Please be certain that this May election is not about anything national; it is not about immigration, it is not about net zero, it is not about the Iran, Ukraine or Gaza wars, it is not about the EU or Brexit, etc. It is just about Harlow.. only Harlow. Vote for Harlow. A vote for anyone other than Dan Swords local Conservatives puts all these advances and achievements in doubt and in serious jeopardy. We cannot afford such risk. Let Dan finish the job!
Dans the Man ! Getting on with things l will be Voting Conservatives we need him to carry on the Brilliant work he is doing.
It is true, this is the best administration Harlow has had for decades. Labour let the town sink and Reform have no experience and a local leader who doesn't even live in Harlow and can't stand for election as he is non-resident. Too much is at stake. Stick with Dan, a safe pair of hands. Dan the Man!
Yes, Dan Swords and his very able team are doing a good job for Harlow. The Harlow Labour Group of councillors and Chris Vince MP lack any ideas. Reform are just a bunch of immigration/don't like foreigners clowns and the Greens want you to pay for Net Zero. Your Party are still having an internal punch up and the Liberals are an endangered species. This only leaves Conservatives to vote for in May if you want any progress in rebuilding Harlow.
Dan proving yet again you can just do things, so why have previous labour and conservative councils not just doing this previously. If he really delivers for Harlow and he seems to be, he will be one of the few politicians who has actually delivered, nationally included. As for Chris he is invisible, and parrots the line of the worst PM we have ever had, he only goes to schools as there he gets no difficult questions, and who knows maybe keeping his hand in for when he loses his seat.
You’ve got my vote Dan, no one has never done as much for this town as you, Harlow town is becoming good again.
Thank god the labour government are able to fund Harlow.
mmm.. wonder where all the money for these projects is coming from, especially with C Tax frozen for 5 yrs! Massive borrowing or underspend in previous years?? Mr Swords is it just words or are you genuine, lets see in a years time how things are Vs the promises
Next up…. Dance off between Dan and Chris. Make it happen
