TVS fleet increases to support new food waste collections

TERRA Verde Services Ltd (TVS LTD) is increasing its fleet of vehicles to support new food waste collections in Epping Forest District.

From 31 March 2026 Epping Forest District Council is introducing a separate weekly food waste collection service. Residents will need to separate food and garden waste into the correct containers:

Food waste must be placed in the brown kerbside caddy for weekly collection

Garden waste will be collected fortnightly – it will only be collected from green-lidded bins displaying a valid subscription permit

Households are being provided with a free brown kitchen food caddy and kerbside caddy – for food waste only – and this needs to be collected in special-purpose vehicles.

TVS Ltd has ordered six new DAF XBs – rear-loading compactor vehicles designed to collect food waste.

Residents will see crew members walking the streets with their own wheeled bin to collect residents’ food waste. When full they are tipped into the new vehicles which have lifting devices.

Kerbside caddies will be left upright outside the property they were emptied from.

Like all TVS Ltd collection vehicles, the food waste trucks have 360-degree cameras which provide a clear view of activity around the vehicles, ensuring the safety of crews while they work. Cameras are monitored by a central control centre and TVS Ltd’s own operational management team.

All food waste must go into the new kerbside caddy, which will be collected weekly.
