Harlow community condemn sickening racist attack at The Stow

Communities / Sun 28th Aug 2016 at 04:30pm

JUST a few weeks ago, members of the Harlow community came together to condemn hate crime in the town.

The group consisted of politicians, community and faith leaders across the town.

With the news that two Polish men were attacked last night, with one fighting for his life in hospital, the group have come together to speak as one again,

Group spokesperson, cllr Waida Forman said:

“Targeting foreigners for indiscriminate violent assault has no place in a civilised society. We believe we all have More in Common than that which divides us.

If we treat others how we would like to be treated ourselves, we would find everyone benefits from a peaceful society.

We urge any witnesses to this appalling incident to contact Essex Police to ensure that justice prevails.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and friends.

Great to see a group like this form in the town. But words do nothing really. How about action to help the decent residents of the stow area from living in fear surrounded by drug users pushers and violent scum. Sorry however I and others have no faith in the powers that be in this town.

I add my voice to those who are condemning this attack, and anything similar to any members of our community. I said it on the launch of this group, that bringing in other politicians and community leaders that are not just Labour would strengthen it and give it more clout. The biggest issue is of course Community policing and "bobbies on the beat". The idea that it is outdated is ridiculous because it is exactly what our communities and residents want. For the police to say they will be increasing their presence is rather laughable - because at present they have no presence whatsoever. I go to the Stow on a daily basis and cannot remember the last time I saw any police, other than to a shoplifting incident. Those in power really need to raise their game!!!
