Poppies
Another local resident got completely carried away with the project and has knitted over 200 poppies. Julie Lilley James, of Westfield, Harlow said “I didn’t set out to knit so many but once I started I just couldn’t stop”

Cllr Ian Beckett, Chairman of Harlow Council, who came up with the idea of the project said “I’m delighted that this idea of linking creativity and remembrance has captured the imagination of the people of our town”

The poppies will be exhibited gradually in the entrance of Harlow Civic Centre from Monday 23 Oct. Curator Corrina Dunlea said “We have recently witnessed the emotional response to LEST WE FORGET ; 200 hand woven poppies in the Gibberd Gallery has had on visitors, so it’s wonderful that people still contribute in their own creative way to this commemorative event”.

Local people who have completed poppies are asked to deliver them to the Civic Centre reception or Gibberd Gallery. An informal reception, to which all those who have participated are invited, will be held in the Gibberd Gallery between 6pm & 7pm on Monday 13th October.
