Worries as water levels rise in Harlow

Elizabeth WayTHERE were a number of concerns in Harlow as the water levels rose in certain parts of the town.

One twitter warning said: “Warning Broadly Common Road, Harlow and Nazeing are badly flooded. Avoid if you can”.

Statement from Environment Agency

“A band of heavy rain is currently affecting the area around the Canons Brook in Harlow. The brook has responded to this rainfall and is expected to reach at least bank full before the rainfall subsides this evening. Flooding to lower lying land, road and gardens next to the river is possible.

“Surface water flooding can also be expected in some locations. The worst of the rain is expected to clear the area by early evening although showers are possible throughout the night. We will continue to monitor the situation. This information will be updated this evening”.
