Update on unauthorised traveller encampments in Harlow

THE latest information on unauthorised encampments in Harlow is as follows:

Katherine’s Way (land owned by Essex County Council):

The encampment of nine caravans which moved to the car park at the Fresh Start School has now moved to land at Katherine’s Way. Essex Countywide Traveller Unit (ECTU) is visiting today (Tuesday 14 October 2014) to carry out assessment and proceed to legal action if the encampment contains vehicles that have returned to the land in breach of the 3-month no-return rule of a previous possession order. If not, ECTU will commence legal action under section 77/78 of Criminal Justice & Public Order act 1994.

River Way (land owned by Essex County Council):

Essex County Council has obtained a county court hearing on Thursday 16 October 2014 and this encampment will be served with a summons today (Tuesday 14 October 2014).

Second Avenue/Howard Way (land owned by Harlow Council):

The group at Second Avenue/Howard Way was given a direction to leave the land on or before 4pm on Friday 10 October 2014. As it has not left Harlow Council has issued county court proceedings and is awaiting a hearing date.

Field north of Kingsland/Abercrombie Way (land owned by Harlow Council):

There three caravans on this land. Harlow Council was awarded a final order for possession of the land in court yesterday (Monday 13 October 2014) and is waiting for the court to process the order today (Tuesday 14 October 2014) so that it can be served on the encampment.

Pear Tree Mead/Southern Way (land owned by Harlow Council):

There are 10 caravans on this land. Harlow Council has a county court hearing set for Friday 17 October 2014.
