Athletics: Harlow’s toughest take on the Stort 30

SEVERAL Harlow Running Club members competed in the Stort 30, an exhausting 30 mile race along the River Stort towpath from Bishop’s Stortford to Roydon and back again. Lyndon Cooper finished in 13th place out of 189 finishers in an excellent 4hrs 02min 49sec. He was followed home by Darren Coates 40th in 4hrs 33min 53sec, Gary Godfrey 42nd in 4hrs 34min 21sec, Steve Ambrose 60th in 4hrs 57min 04sec, Matt Jones 94th in 5hrs 24min 42sec, Andy Ramage 107th in 5hrs 31min 21sec, Frank Pardoe 108th in 5hrs 31min 27sec and Vicky Calver 183rd in 7hrs 03min 44sec.

Meanwhile at a very wet and undulating Stevenage Marathon Brendon Maclean finished in 97th place out of 232 finishers in 3hrs 59min 29sec and Holly Nairn was 149th in a personal best time for the distance of 4hrs 25min 35sec.

At the same venue in the Stevenage Half Marathon John Tennant finished in 112th place out of 546 finishers and 1st Vet 60 in 1hr 39min 40sec. He was followed by Vicky Steadman 184th in 1hr 49min 56sec and Andy Kinney 438th in 2hrs 16min 17sec.

At the Billericay 10K Rob Lowe finished in 12th place out of 575 finishers in a superb 38min 18sec and Dionne Jones was 82nd and 1st female Vet 45 in an excellent 44min 01sec which is a new HRC Vet 45 record which has stood since 1995.

At the Serpentine 5K in Hyde Park Steve Murtagh finished in 5th place out of 248 finishers and 1st Vet 50 in an excellent 17min 04sec.

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Rick Ricketts finished in 6th place out of 100 finishers in a superb 19min 46sec.

At the Enfield Parkrun 5K Paul Lee finished in 22nd place out of 110 finishers in 22min 35sec.
