Athletics: Success at Essex Vets Cross Country

HARLOW Running Club members had a successful weekend with two club records and four personal best times (PB). Pride of place goes to Daniel Jephcott who ran the Fell Foot Parkrun 5K in Newby Bridge, Cumbria. Jephcott finished in 3rd place out of 141 finishers and 1st Under 20 in a fantastic PB time of 19min 12sec to create a new HRC U20 record.
Meanwhile at the Harlow Parkrun 5K Jason Haigh finished in 6th place out of 80 finishers in 21min 20sec. He was followed home by Jim Bates 20th and 1st Vet 70 in a PB time of 25min 09sec to create a new HRC Vet 70 record. Robin Lozeau 22nd finished in 25min 42sec, Celia Haigh 27th in 26min 14sec, Derek Seymour 28th and 2nd Vet 70 in 26min 20sec in his debut at the distance, Louise Kedge 39th in 28min 23sec, Alan Wellbelove 44th in 29min 49sec (PB), Pushpa Mistry 51st in 31min 24sec and Joy Hale 52nd in 31min 32sec.
At the Essex Vets Cross Country Championships run at a very hilly and very muddy 5.5 mile course at Hainault Forest, Jamie Jephcott running in the Vet 40 category, finished in 41st place out of 67 finishers in a superb 39min 37sec. In the Vet 50 and above category John Tennant finished in 67th place out of 105 finishers in 46min 27sec, Alan Cootes 75th in 48min 26sec and Martin McColgan 77th in 48min 49sec.
At the Huddersfield Parkrun 5K Richard Smith finished in 159th place out of 491 finishers in a PB time of 24min 21sec.
At the Panshanger Parkrun 5K at Hertford Sean Flynn finished in 42nd place out of 132 finishers in 24min 50sec.
