Phone lines, computer access and television use were all affected as their appeared to be a power outage.
Many residents were equally annoyed at a perceived lack of action on behalf of Sky.
On Twitter @StuartBurt3 said: “Can’t believe #sky broadband is still down! What’s that nearly 12 hours now, better be getting a rebate!”
@Damoville: “@skyhd do you think it’s acceptable to have an engineer dispatched to the exchange 5 hours after report of outage sky broadband is a joke.”
By 10am, on Friday morning, many customers were still experiencing problems.
YH will endeavour to get through to Sky and update you.
Update: By 1030am on Friday, Sky announced that normal service had been restored in Essex.
