A STAR of the hit BBC One show, The Apprentice, will be visiting Harlow College next Monday (12th January) to meet with local apprentices and talk to them about their aspirations.

Felipe Alviar-Baquero, a solicitor for an international law firm, made it all the way to Week Nine with Lord Sugar and in 2012 was named one of the Top 100 Colombians in the world.

The entrepreneur, who was also chosen to carry the Olympic Torch on its route to the London 2012 games, was invited to the town by local MP Robert Halfon, who campaigns on the issue of apprentices.

Felipe is hoping to give a short speech on skills, employment and his time on the show, before hosting a Q&A session with the students.

Robert Halfon, who has hired three Harlow College apprentices himself, said: “I met Felipe towards the end of last year and we both have a strong commitment to apprenticeships and providing people with the skills they need to get on in life.”

“We’ll also be visiting the brand-new Sir Charles Kao Technical School, which has just opened on the Harlow College campus. I’m very grateful to the College for facilitating our visit.”
