ESSEX Firefighters were called to a fire in a bungalow. On arrival crews reported the front of the property was alight and the whole of the property was smoke logged. Crews wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire by 09:59hrs.

Station Officer Darren Martin said:

“A passer-by had raised the alarm and alerted the women occupant that there was a fire and so she could get out of the property safely.

“The fire appears to have started by some ash which had been disposed of outside the property and had caught a pile of logs alight. Our crews did an excellent job to quickly extinguished the fire and managed to stop it spreading to the whole property”.
