A FAMILY fun day involving inflatables in Harlow has been cancelled following a public outcry.

The Mega Family Fun Day was due to take place on Monday May 14th at the Paringdon Club.

A Facebook page was created with a photograph full of inflatables.

But in light of the tragic circumstances surrounding the death of Summer Grant at Harlow Town Park, residents went onto social media to express their anger that such an event was taking place.

A few hours later, the event organiser cancelled the event stating: “In respect of recent events involving the tragic loss of Summer Grant we will be cancelling this event.

“Please note that our Harlow event was planned at the beginning of the year and that we had no intention of upsetting or disrespecting Summer Grant’s family or friends.

“Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Summer Grant”.

Some residents have directed their anger at Harlow Council, however a spokesperson set the record straight on whether the council had influence on such events.

A spokesperson said: We are aware of residents’ concerns regarding an event of this nature taking place in Harlow.

The Council’s position is that, until further notice, it would not be appropriate for inflatables to feature at events
where the Council has control.

“As this event is being held on privately owned land the Council has no authority to stop it.
