Athletics: Impressive performances at Witham

HARLOW Running Club fielded 29 runners at the Essex 5 Mile Championships held on
an undulating course at Witham and came away with one essex medal and eight
personal best times for the distance (PB). Rob Lowe led the way in 20th place
out of 424 finishers in an excellent PB time of 29min 23sec. He was followed
home by Dan Chapman 50th in 31.16 PB, Jamie Jephcott 51st in 31.24 and Alex
Smith 55th in 31.35 PB.

First Harlow lady was Sharon Wright in 114th place in a
superb 35min 26sec, Catherine Ridge 142nd in 36.36 PB and Sandra Rust 144th in
36.37 PB. Joanne Mills was 331st and 3rd Female Vet 65 to win the Essex Bronze
medal for her category. There were also PB runs from Paul Schroder 149th in
36.54, Wendy Spring 192nd in 39.30 and Michelle Hyde 232nd in 41.16.

Meanwhile at the Milton Keynes Marathon Mark Moulds, in his debut at the
distance, finished in 1466th place out of 1953 finishers in 4hrs 52min 51sec.

At the Milton Keynes Half Marathon Andy Ramage finished in 438th place out of
2216 finishers in 1hr 52min 34sec. He was followed by Richard Smith (1112nd in
2.03.50), Sheila Leach (1879th in 2.29.30) and Steve Crosby (2126th in 2.52.27).

At the Greenway Challenge, a multi-terrain half marathon at Letchworth Garden
City, Sean Flynn finished in 82nd place out of 226 finishers in 1hr 52min 25sec.

At the Harlow Parkrun 5K Rich Hynes was in 1st place out of 151
finishers in a fantastic 18min 32sec. He was followed home by Terry Ridge (7th
in 21.38), Spencer Brooks (21st in 23.19), Paul Dixon (25th in 23.37), Alan
Cootes (26th and 1st Vet 60 in 23.46), Nicola Smith (33rd and 2nd Female in
24.26), Andy Bradley (39th in 24.57), Catherine Ridge (41st in 25.06), Robin
Lozeau (43rd and 2nd Vet 60 in 25.21), Louise Cootes (55th in 26.34), Alan
Wellbelove (61st in 27.17), Louise Kedge (63rd in 27.44), Jane Evans (68th and
1st Female Vet 50 in 28.15), Kerry Mavris (78th in 29.15), Andy Smith (80th in
29.42 PB), Hossein Erfani (81st in 29.45 PB) and Pushpa Mistry (90th in 30.52).

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Jamie Jephcott finished in 2nd
place out of 138 finishers in an excellent 18min 47sec. He was followed by
Brendon Maclean (6th in 19.42 PB), Andy Ramage (19th in 22.01 PB), Faith
Jackson-Lee (26th and 1st Female in 22.44 PB) and Anna Robey (27th and 2nd
Female in 22.51 PB).

At the Hatfield Forest Parkrun 5K Owen Haigh finished in 24th place out of 205
finishers in 22min 14sec. He was followed by Martin McColgan (33rd in 23.19),
David Page (58th in 25.17), Michelle Hyde (70th in 25.40), Janice Page (75th and
3rd Female Vet 50 in 26.09), Terry Pike (112nd in 28.01), Peter Mills (120th and
1st Vet 70 in 28.24) and Joanne Mills (147th and 1st Female Vet 65 in 30.09).

At the Finsbury Park Parkrun 5K Will Wall finished in 35th place out of 246
finishers in a superb 20min 55sec.

At the Lee-on-the-Solent Parkrun 5K in Hampshire Paul Schroder finished in 57th
place out of 485 finishers in a PB time of 22min 11sec and Wendy Spring was 94th
also in a PB time of 23min 42sec.

At the Walthamstow Parkrun 5K Andy Kinney finished in 46th place out of 78
finishers in 29min dead.
