The Effect Rehearsal Diary – Week 2

Lifestyle / Thu 19th May 2016 am31 11:12am

The Effect is the production currently in rehearsal by the Moot House Players, directed by Harry Tennison. This diary covers their rehearsal process from the first week of rehearsals to the final night. The Effect follows Connie and Tristan as they are involved in a clinical drugs trail for a new antidepressant drug. The production runs at Moot Hall on the 7th, 8th and 9th of July, and tickets are available from www.moothouseplayers.com. This weeks entry is completed by Tyrone Samuels, who plays Tristan.

In the couple of rehearsals we’ve had, my focus has been to understand Tristan’s confident character but more importantly how that transposes to my connection with the characters in the play, especially Connie.

Having the opportunity to explore my motives and my characters’ lines, this has enabled me to break away from the rigidity of just reading lines off a page. Coupled with weekly tasks focusing on building character profile, this has justified why I wanted to do this play because the bottom line is that it concentrates on human beings, connecting with each other through open and honest dialogue on their awareness of who they are.

I feel this already within the cast so this is really helped in rehearsals; especially when asking questions on my characters actions as he is very expressive when talking to others.

Looking forward to the next rehearsal!
