ST CLARE Hospice’s ‘Make a Will Fortnight’ is taking place from 6 to 17 June across West Essex and East Herts. Eighteen solicitors’ offices across the region have kindly volunteered their time to enable you to make your Will in return for a donation to the Hastingwood-based Hospice.

Local law firm, Barnes and Partners, are amongst the firms supporting the initiative and their Harlow branch will be participating. Barnes and Partners Chartered Legal Executive, Kim Boylett, is keen to highlight the importance of making a Will to Harlow residents.

Mrs Boylett said: “When it comes to looking after our families, there isn’t much we wouldn’t do to take care of the ones we love. It is surprising then, that when it comes to stating our wishes for after we’ve gone, more than half of adults living in the UK admit that they do not have a Will.”

“Everyone should have a Will, but it is even more important if you have children, own property or have savings, investments, insurance policies or own a business. It really is never too early to make a Will, and will give you piece of mind that your family is cared for in the future.”

Mrs Boylett, who has been a resident of Harlow for 30 years, is passionate about supporting her local charity.

Mrs Boylett: “I am proud that my firm is supporting St Clare Hospice’s Make a Will Fortnight and would encourage anyone who has not yet made their Will yet to take advantage of this fantastic initiative. Not only will you be ensuring that your family is cared for, but you will also be raising money for a very worthy cause.”

“I often meet families who are not only going through the upset of losing someone they love, but are also caused unnecessary distress by the lack of their loved one having a Will. It really is worth making a Will in advance so that your family is saved from further heartache at one of life’s hardest moments.”

From June 6 to 17, eight solicitors’ offices local to Harlow are volunteering their time to enable you to make your Will. All they request is that you kindly make the suggested minimum donation of £180 to St Clare Hospice, which is the standard cost of a Will, but will pay for an hour of the vital care that St Clare’s Community Service offers free of charge to local families.
