Cricket / Sun 5th Jun 2016 pm30 04:08pm
Basildon & Pitsea CC 206 for 8 dec from 50 overs
Harlow Town CC 207 for 6 from 44.1
HTCC win by 4 Wickets
TOWN secured their 1st win of the season with a well paced run chase against a decent Basildon side
Skipper Eversden won the toss and elected to bowl on green wicket and was rewarded when opener Debond was bowled for 4 early on
Towns opening pair bowled superbly with the ball swinging and were very unlucky as a succession of edges and arial shots saw Basildon recover and it took the introduction of Ronnie Yates to break the deadlock with opener Ayres departing for 37 caught at slip.
Skipper Eversden bowled a sensation spell in which not a run was scored from his 1st five overs. The skipper then had number 3 Ali caught for 37 and 1st team keeper batsmen Danny Gray for 17
It was left to veteren Mike Blerkom to anchor the innings as his sensible 52 ensured Basildon would reach maximum batting points at 207
Towns wickets were shared by Elston 1 for 45, Eversden 3 for 38, Yates 1 for 52 & Mazarua 3 for 37
In reply Town got off to an electric start and raced to 35 for 1 before Gladwin tried 1 big shot to many and was caught for 15. Town then lost Lowles (23), Richardson (6) and last weeks 3rd xl centurion Norcott(0) as town wobbled at 48 for 4.
Yates showed his 1st xl experience as he sensibly rotated the strike along with the impressive Ben Tyne who once again applied good technique with brutal aggression.
The pair lifted town to 142 before Yates was bowled for 32 and Tyne departed for match winning 72 being run out by the skipper !!
Eversden and Shaun Alderson ensured there were no more scares as they saw town home with 4 wickets left
Town will be hoping to build on this victory with a home match against Ardleigh Green on Sat
