Statement from Essex Fire Service

Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision involving two heavy goods vehicles and nine cars on the southbound carriageway of the M11.

One heavy goods vehicle collided with the central reservation between junction 7 and 6.

Crews made the incident scene safe. No one was trapped in their vehicles on arrival and first aid was given to 14 casualties.

The casualties were left in the care of the ambulance service at 04:16hrs.

0700 hrs

M11 Essex – One lane closed, queuing traffic for ten miles and severe delays on M11 southbound between J7, A414 (Harlow) and J6 M25, because of a multi-vehicle accident and recovery work. Congestion to J8, A120 (Bishops Stortford).

A414 Essex – Very slow traffic on A414 southbound in Harlow between Park Inn Junction and Harlow.

M11 Essex – Heavy traffic on M11 northbound after J6 M25, because of people slowing to look at an accident on the opposite carriageway.

B1393 Essex – Queuing traffic on B1393 southbound in Epping between Harlow and the B182 Bury Lane junction. Also affecting B181 Epping Road between Coopersale Common and B193 Palmers Hill.
