HARLOW MP, Robert Halfon, has welcomed today’s record-breaking figures showing that there are more people in work than ever before. There are 334,000 more people in work across the East of England and since 2010, there are over 2.7 million more people across the whole country in work. In Harlow, this means that more families have the security of a regular pay packet.
In the constituency, the number of people claiming the key out of work benefits has fallen by 1415 – a 58% per cent drop – since 2010. The record high employment rate has been fuelled by full-time work, which has accounted for three quarters of the employment growth since 2010, and average wages have also increased by 2.4 per cent over the last year.
Robert Halfon said:
“Today’s figures show that employment is continuing to increase in Harlow and across the country, building a Britain that works for everyone and not just the privileged few. The number of people in Harlow relying on the key out of work benefits has fallen massively by 1415 since 2010 – a 58% drop. This shows that the local economy is continuing to grow and jobs are coming back to Harlow.”
