Harlow Town 1 v 0 Staines Town
HARLOW Town produced a dogged, determined performance to secure three points against Staines Town at the Harlow Arena.
The first chance of the game came in the 2nd minute when Jordan Castrien produced a neat interception in the area, chested the ball down, but his shot was weak.
Harlow had just lost three in a row and a weak punch away by second string keeper Ed Thompson did not instill confidence in the team. Having said that, in the 19th minute he produced a wonderful reaction save from Staines’ Kyran Wiltshire.
Staines had a measured way about them but seemed to flatter to deceive.
Harlow worked hard in midfield to disturb the fluent of the visitor’s game. Bamba Mgamb created problems down the right whilst a snapshot by Leon Antoine impressed the hardy Harlow fans.
On the sideline, boss Danny Chapman was clearly getting frustrated as the Hawks were finding it hard to carve out decent chances.
Having said all that, Staines produced little however Lawrence Yiga produced a lovely interception to stifle a rare attack.
Staines should have gone ahead at the beginning of the second half when an unmarked Deshane Dalling had a great chance to score but had his shot smothered by Ed Thompson.
Harlow started to dig away and stuck to their task and worked hard. Harlow nearly scored in the 63rd minute but the ball breezed past the post.
This was a great period of sustained pressure from the Hawks as they tried to carve out a victory.
Big Joe Benjamin came on and imposed himself on the match.
In the 85th minute, Harlow Town broke the deadlock. Joe Benjamin produced a pin point pass to Layne Eadie, who was able to get to the by-line and put the ball across.
From there, Bamba Ngamb scored from close range. It was no more than Harlow deserved.
Staines came back, they peppered the area but did not truly threaten. Harlow were able to see out the final minutes to secure a vital three points.
