Kiddi Care celebrate Diwali

CHILDREN and staff from Kiddi Caru’s Harlow day nursery have been celebrating Diwali recently by creating their own colourful Festival of Light.
Diwali is known as the festival of lights because during the course of the five-day festival houses shops and public places are traditionally decorated with small earthenware lamps. The children made their own Diva lamps from clay and learned all about incense trays, smelling the many different aromas when the staff lit the incense for them. They also dressed in traditional Hindu clothes, bangles and bindis and did lots of dances to Indian style music.
Louise Farrow, Nursery Manager, said: “It is important to us with children from so many diverse backgrounds that we celebrate the different festivals that are held throughout the year. Diwali is one of the children’s favourites as it encompasses so many fun and exciting things to do whilst conveying a story that the children also find very interesting.”
