From Harlow Police Community Policing Team

Just a bit of a warning for Harlow residents and the surrounding areas. Yesterday (Tuesday March 21st) in Harlow, Sharpecroft we had a burglary of an elderly females address.

Entry was gained by a male described as white, well built aged 30’s-40’s with a ‘mop’ of hair. He was wearing a blue checked shirt at the time. The male tricked his way into the property by stating that he had carried out work recently at the address (which was a lie) and that he had left his ID in the address.

He was afforded entry and looked around the entire property. He then asked the female to look in her bag for his ID which she did, he then took the bag looking himself.

After he left it was discovered that a substantial amount of cash had been removed.

This is not a common occurrence at the moment in Harlow but please if you have elderly relatives make them aware and ensure they are protected.

If anyone has information on this matter please make contact via 101. Crime Ref. 42/44971/17 refers and is being dealt with by DC Swan Harlow CID.
