Harlow Tip: What are the rules about walking in?

News / Mon 17th Apr 2017 at 11:58am

LAST week, a YH reader went down to the Civic Amenity (the tip) down in Templefields. As they only had two items, they walked up to the site.

As they approached the front, they were told by a “security guard” that they were not allowed to walk in.

There was, according to our reader, an exchange of views in which reasons such as “health and safety” etc were cited.

As this site is maintained by Essex County Council, we asked them if this was true.

A spokesperson said: “There are no rules about people walking into Recycling Centres and vans are allowed to use the Harlow Site.

“The only reason anyone would be stopped from going in would be if it was suspected they were disposing of business waste or have gone over the limits on DIY waste”.
