THE Vespa Club Of Britain Branch 131 – The Hertfordshire and Essex Highwaymen present a Scooter Ride Out and Fun Day in association with Harlow is 70, celebrating 70 years of Harlow New Town.

The ride will start 12pm (meet 11:30am for tea and rolls – bring some change) at The Link, Parsloe Road (Harlow) and end at Burnt Mill Academy (Harlow) at approx 1pm.

From 1pm – 5pm we will be hosting a fun day at Club Foot – a brand new venue based at Burnt Mill Academy, with special guest DJs, live bands, stalls, food and a licensed bar.

Confirmed acts – The Chords UK (Feat. Chris Pope) + Small Talk

As an original member, and key songwriter, with The Chords, Chris penned some of the late 70’s mod revival’s best loved anthems. ‘Something’s Missing’ ‘The British Way Of Life’ and the UK Chart hit ‘Maybe Tomorrow’.

With The Chords UK Chris has recently released a new album. ‘Take On Life’ features a few tracks meant for the never released 2nd Chords album.
The Chords UK played in Harlow in November 2016 at The Square, in front of an audience including Eddie Piller in his hand painted Chords parka from ’79!

Confirmed DJs – Rhoda Dakar (The Bodysnatchers/Special AKA) + Eddie Piller (Acid Jazz Records)

Rhoda was a regular visitor to the town during her teens. She joined The Bodysnatchers in 1979 and hit the charts with their debut release ‘Do The Rocksteady’ released on 2-Tone records.
n 1982 Rhoda joined up with The Specials (Special AKA) for the controversial single ‘The Boiler’ and contributed to the 1984 album ‘In The Studio’

More recently Rhoda has been out with her own band performing the songs of The Bodysnatchers, which included a visit to The Square in August 2016.

Eddie is a Harlow resident and a well known radio DJ. Having previously worked on BBC radio he is currently hosting a weekly ‘Eclectic Soul’ show on Soho Radio and is first on the list to cover 6 Music’s Funk & Soul show.

In 1987, along with Giles Peterson, he started Acid Jazz *Official* Records, responsible for early releases by the Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai and the James Taylor Quartet.
Eddie also hosts the highly popular Modcast with Eddie Piller & Friends podcast.
