VOTING OPENS IN HARLOW DESIGN AWARDS AS SHORTLIST IS ANNOUNCED!

THE 2017 Harlow Architectural Design Awards (HADAs) have entered their final stage, with the announcement of a shortlist for the town’s best new buildings, extensions and conversions. The starting gun for voting has now been fired, with organisers asking for the public’s help in selecting a winner for the two Awards.

Public nominations were received throughout June, and after due consideration and research by HADA’s judging panel, entries were whittled down to just 5 residential and 4 non-residential buildings, which make up the shortlists.

The residential shortlist includes eye-catching homes at High Chase, 54 Old Road, 10 Headland Street, 6 & 8 Rosefield Street and 4, 6 & 8 Headland Street.

The non-residential category features both business and community assets at Kao One, Harlow Rugby Club, Harlow Cricket Pavilion, and the Spurriers & Pets Corner upgrade/refurbishment, the last phase of which was completed this year.

You can read more about all shortlisted entries and vote for your favourite new Harlow building here: http://www.harlowarchitecturaldesignawards.org.uk/shortlist/

Organised by Harlow Civic Society and supported by founding sponsor Places for People and annual sponsor Architecture & Design Services, the Awards set out to celebrate the best examples of recent architecture, to encourage better design for the future of the town.

Paul McLintic, from Harlow Civic Society said: “We are delighted to have already generated a lot of interest in this year’s Architectural Design Awards. Having considered all of the nominations in-depth, and picked the best examples in each category, we would like to encourage as many people as possible to take part in this part of the process and really make your vote count!”

Once the polls close on 31st August 2017 and all votes have been counted, the HADA panel will consider each building and, in light of the voting, select a winner in each category. The results will then be announced at an Awards ceremony at the Cricket Pavilion on 22nd October 2017.
