THE opening of the Rotary Park took place at Princess Alexandra Hospital last Friday.

Leader of Harlow Council, cllr Jon Clempner officially opened the park together with Bill Colton president of Harlow Tye Rotary Club and PAH fundraiser Jamie Pring.

The Rotary Park which is the first of its kind in the area is for the use of staff and patients at the hospital, this gives them a place to relax outside the hospital buildings.

This project was an idea that Laurie Sims from Harlow Tye Rotary had, wishing to do something for the Hospital. Jamie Pring,
who is a fundraiser for the Princess Alexandra Hospital, also wanted a much needed facility for the staff and patients to enjoy.

The park is adjacent to the old, Parndon Hall House in the hospital grounds, in a grassed area that has been laid out with benches around a circular pathway and tables where people can sit and take refreshments. It has also been planted out with flowers and shrubs.

A Rotary spokesperson said: “Rotary Parks and gardens are often seen in North America where Rotary clubs regularly provide this type of facility, but rarely seen in the UK. So it was a great pleasure that our Rotary club could provide a permanent facility for Harlow
Harlow Tye Rotary Club would like to thank PAH contractors, Eurovia and A.Staunton who laid out and tarmacked the footpath free of charge
