Work starts to improve outpatients areas at Princess Alexandra Hospital

PATIENTS and visitors to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow are being made aware that planned improvement work is starting this week which will affect some outpatient areas over the next three months.

Phase 1 of this work will begin on Wednesday, 23 August). It will be taking place overnight between 8pm – 6am and will affect the corridor between the ground floor lift lobby and the outpatients waiting area.

Although patients, visitors and staff will be able to access this area during the day, people using the site in the evenings will need to follow the diversion signs as the corridor will have very limited access. Security staff and porters will be on hand in this area to assist patients, visitors and staff as the usual signage will not be in place.

The works is being undertaken to make the environment brighter and more accessible for patients and visitors. The flooring will be improved to allow ease of access from one area to another and the signage will become more user friendly.

As part of the project the retail and seating facilities in the outpatient areas will also be upgraded and improved.

The hospital will keep patients and the public updated about the next phases of the work in coming weeks.
