SANTA hats and festive jumpers were the outfits of choice when Harlow Sunday Walkers staged their annual charity walk on Sunday.
Armed with collection buckets, around 20 members of the fast-expanding group braved the damp and chilly weather to walk from Bush Fair to the Town Centre, collecting en route in aid of St Clare’s Hospice. Passing motorists and pedestrians donated cash and, once the walkers got to the Town Centre, shoppers were also willing to give to the cause.
Money from the collection buckets, plus proceeds from a raffle and other fund-raising schemes raised a total of £323.59.
HSW founder Steve Morton – who led the walk dressed as Santa Claus – explained that a Facebook gift page will continue to run for a while so anyone wishing to make a last minute donation can still do so.
He said: “We continue to be amazed by the generosity of the people in Harlow, especially at this time of year. We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who gave towards such a worthy cause. Merry Christmas to all!”
