St Clare Hospice host Christmas party for Day Therapy users

HASTINGWOOD-based charity, St Clare Hospice, has once again brought the magic of Christmas to the hospice by hosting a party for people who are supported by their Day Therapy team.

Held in the hospice’s dining room on Monday 18th December, and hosted by St Clare staff and volunteers, more than 40 Day Therapy patients gathered together to enjoy an afternoon of live music and entertainment, a home-cooked Christmas dinner prepared by St Clare chefs, and lashings of festive spirit and cheer. This year’s live music entertainment was provided for free by local professional vocalist, Bobby Rio, whose renditions of Frank Sinatra and other festive favourites delighted the audience.

St Clare’s Day Therapy Manager, Emily Stowe, said: “Every year it an absolute honour to be able to host this wonderful Christmas party celebration for our Day Therapy patients. It is our pleasure to bring the magic of Christmas to our patients – who deserve to feel that special festive feeling of love, togetherness and happiness. It is just wonderful to see everybody enjoying themselves so freely in the spirit of Christmas.”

Emily added, “Going the extra mile for the people we support is part of what makes our jobs so special and rewarding. For people who are faced with a life-limiting illness, it is the little ‘extras’ we offer that make the biggest difference: things that celebrate normality and help them live life to the full. We want to say thank-you to our supporters for making things like our Christmas party possible – this is where your money goes. Yes, it goes on the vital physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual support that changes lives for the better – but it also goes on bringing humble joy to local people who deserve it. This is what ‘making a difference’ is all about.”
