Hospice calls on local schools and supporters to ‘Go Bright’ for St Clare!
ST Clare Hospice is calling on their local schools, workplaces and community groups across West Essex and East Hertfordshire to put their creative fundraising skills to the test by taking part in their second annual Go Bright Week.
The hospice charity is running the week-long campaign as part of their community fundraising activities and the event promises to be the ‘brightest week in the St Clare calendar.’ Taking place from Saturday 14th to Sunday 22nd July, St Clare supporters are invited to hold ‘bright’ events in aid of the charity – raising awareness and funds for the cause.
St Clare Community Fundraising Lead, Dani De’ath, is co-ordinating Go Bright Week and explained: “Go Bright is all about supporting St Clare Hospice, your local hospice charity. Our lovely, bright St Clare logo is all the colours of the rainbow and we want to celebrate the brightness and happiness that St Clare brings to the lives of our community – by holding a whole week of bright, rainbow-coloured celebrations for St Clare!”
Dani continued: “One of the first things patients and families often say to us when they arrive at St Clare is how lovely and bright the hospice is, and what a happy and peaceful atmosphere it has. It is often not what they expected, as they imagine a hospice to be a dull and dingy place. That is another reason why we have chosen to call it Go Bright Week – helping to spread the word that St Clare is a bright and happy place.”
Commenting on range of Go Bright events that participants could organise, Dani said: “Why not hold a Go Bright dress-down day at your school or workplace – by donning the brightest clothes in your wardrobe; bake a bright rainbow cake and hold a bake sale; wear a bright-coloured wig for the day or wear your brightest facepaint? Whether you dress up, eat cake, wear a wig or paint your face, you will be part of the brightest week in the St Clare calendar – and help to raise awareness of our work and raise much-needed funds for us.”
Go Bright Week will start with St Clare’s first-ever Go Bright Walk held on Saturday 14th July in the Water Gardens in Harlow. The new summer 5k fundraiser promises to be the ‘brightest 5k in town’ and the event is suitable for the whole family. The walk will set off at 11am with a family-friendly festival of stalls, games and treats from 10am to 3pm.
Running from Saturday 14th to Sunday 22nd July Go Bright Week is open to all local schools, businesses and community groups across West Essex and East Hertfordshire – the catchment area of the hospice.
