Daniel Robinson & Sons raises over £650,000 for local charity

LOCAL Hastingwood-based charity, St Clare Hospice, is celebrating more than 20 years of support from independent family funeral directors Daniel Robinson & Sons, who have raised over £650,000 in vital funding for the charity over the years.

This year, Daniel Robinson & Sons enter their 125th year since the organisation was founded. Following their development of new computer software which enables them to collect online donations via their website, in 2017 alone they collected and forwarded a total of over £428,000 to 299 difference charities and organisations.

In Daniel Robinson & Sons’ list of the top ten charities who received the most donations during 2017, St Clare Hospice was ranked highest with over £58,000 in collected donations.

In previous years, Daniel Robinson & Sons fundraised for St Clare through a variety of different major events such as go-karting and golf days. Nine corporate balls were held in aid of the hospice charity since 2006, accounting for over £267,000 of their total donations.

St Clare Hospice’s Director of Income Generation, Cheryl Armitage, said: “We are delighted to be celebrating over 20 years in partnership with Daniel Robinson & Sons – a fantastic local family-run business who have supported us so generously over the years. We congratulate them on their 125th year, and thank them for their continued dedication to St Clare which makes such a difference in the local community. £650,000 is enough to fund an entire year’s worth of care from our Hospice at Home team, who in 2017 provided vital support to over 450 families in their own homes.”

Gary Neill, Managing Director of Daniel Robinson & Sons and a patron of St Clare, said: “Entering our 125th year of trading has been a wonderful celebration in reflecting on our work over the past century and a quarter. It’s an honour to be able to support St Clare Hospice, a charity who is close to the hearts of so many people who we work with. Being able to support a cause like St Clare, whose ethos is to help make one of life’s most difficult journeys that little bit easier for local people and families, is such privilege. Our partnership with the hospice continues to blossom and we look forward to further supporting them throughout 2018 and beyond.”
